Managing BT110 Set-based Call features with Tablet Controller and Mobile ApP

Alexa built-in

BT110 Tablet Controller and Mobile App

The BT110 Tablet Controller and Mobile App offers the following features and functionality:

  1. Place and manage calls through the context-sensitive GUI.
  2. Record/maintain Call History and use Call History to make calls.
  3. Manage Contacts and support Contacts-based calling.
  4. Display the current device call state.
  5. Manage the BuddyTalk device:
    • Control speaker volume
    • Turn on/off muting for Alexa interactions
    • Setup start-of-request/end-of-request sounds

See the BT110 Tablet Controller and Mobile App for details.

In addition, as BT110 supports Set-Based Call Features Note 1, 2, the BT110 Tablet Controller and Mobile App expand the existing GUI pages or add additional GUI pages to provide users convenient management of the various set-based call features including:

  • Call hold
  • Call waiting
  • Blind and Consulted Call Transfer Note 3
  • Three-Way Calling

Note 1: The features described on this page applies to BT110 software version v1.0.7.7 and beyond

Note 2: Since the Amazon Alexa Communication (ACM) does not support call features, to avoid potential conflicts between the BT110 call states and those in the Alexa Communication, there are some restrictions in the BT110 call feature control

Note 3: The BT110 uses REFER for call transfers.  Therefore, it requires the proxy/server to support REFER for the set-based call transfer feature. An example of REFER-based call transfer ladder diagram is given below.  As a result, set-based call transfer will not be available for for those VoIP service providers who do not support REFER.

Selectively Enabling Set-based Call Features

Note that not all set-based call features may be available or enabled for different VoIP service providers.  Thus, the BT110 and its Mobile Apps support selectively enabling set-based call features.  The results will be reflected in the Mobile Apps’ available icons. For example, when the set-based call transfer feature is disabled (for example, for VoIP service providers who do not support the SIP REFER method), the Mobile App screen after the user tap the “Option” icon after dialing a number above will display the following (two options available instead of three, i.e., the “Call Transfer” option is not available for the user to choose).

One Call Active and one Call on Hold.  After the user chooses Establishing the 2nd Call, the page shows the status of the 2 calls (one on HOLD and one ACTIVE), and allows the user to see additional call feature options by clicking the More Option icon.

Call Options for Active and Held Calls. Only two call options appear after the user tap the More Options icon:. The Transfer option is not available

  1. Switch to swap the state of the two calls
  2. Merge to form a three-way conferencing
  3. Transfer option NOT AVAILABLE since the set-based call transfer feature is disabled.
